From 1st February 2017 there will be new enforcement of the regulations relating to the Carriage of Dangerous Goods, of which asbestos removal teams are obviously subject to.
Wrap and cut pipe bagging and transportation has been causing all sorts of issues between HSE and the Department for Transport as their hand-applied lagging means they’re not classed as a manufactured article and therefore cannot fall under Special Provision 168 of ADR.
Therefore a packaging solution was needed to transport these awkward pipes and while this was being explored an authorisation was added to the permit – THIS EXEMPTION EXPIRES on February 1st.
Failure to comply with the updated Carriage of Dangerous Goods regulations would almost certainly result in invalid vehicle insurance.
